I was born musical, you see :)

I got reminded of this today :)

I've been making up songs since I was really little, and the first one I ever came up with was called, Musical Jess, which I insisted wasn't about my sister, and so I pronounced it Jezz. Cunning. :)
It was a blend between heavy metal, screamo and barbershop. :S I know. I thought it was really good at the time, and I was convinced it'd get to number one in the charts :)
Strangely, it was actually about my sister, and how she'd got out of the bath and left the bathroom floor covered in water. :)

It never did make it into the charts :(

The first band I was ever in was called the Purple Swirls, which consisted of me, my sister and an obese girl called Siobhan. She was ginger too. And she crapped in the park. I'm convinced that she only joined because she thought a purple swirl was a kind of ice cream. She used to post pictures of food through our door. But enough about her.
We were a horrendous singing group, who wrote songs about rainbows and fairies. Curiously, we always seemed to give Siobhan the verse which mentioned some kind of food. Like bread. We all sang like sheep on acid, but everyone pretended to like our music, nonetheless. We used to perform at the park in front of our parents, our friends, and whoever else happened to be there at the time. The purple swirls came to a sad end when my sister and I decided we didn't like Siobhan anymore. I thought it was a bit sad to sing with my sister, so the Purple Swirls ended, much to our parent's delight.

A year later, I met a girl called Laura, and she was a tomboy I had to save from a swamp once. We were really close, best friends even, and it wasn't long before we decided to start another band. I played the flute at the time, and she played the tambourine, and so came The Early Dreamers. However, both of us were a bit preoccupied with the instruments to think about writing lyrics, so that band finished relatively quickly.

I then decided I purely a soloist, and I gave up flute and started sing solo. Of course, I was dreadful, and still sounded like a sheep on acid, and however much I tried, I never seemed to get a singing part in the school plays. I could sing in key, but I tended to warble, and seeing as I'm a bit too white for that, it didn't work out.

Then, it was high school, and I felt very betrayed by my voice, and it took a whole year for me to regain my confidence. I took singing classes for two years, and I encouraged a few others to join, and we ended up a singing group, which was good while it lasted, but then year 9 came to a close, and year ten dawned upon us, and all of us gave it up, knowing we couldn't miss classes anymore.

Since then, I've started to play guitar, which I started doing in November, and I am now a self taught guitarist/vocalist. Some of my singing friends have kept up the singing, and one of them has started uploading videos of herself singing onto youtube.

*Took the link off - sorry, apparently she didn't want it up*

I would love to be in a band again, but my friends aren't as enthusiastic, so it'll have to wait I guess. :)

Byebyes for now x x
